2026 Historic Preservation Day at the Capitol: February 4th!

Join the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation for our First Annual Historic Preservation Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Madison.

This members-only event brings together preservation advocates, developers, community leaders, and other professionals involved in historic preservation from across the state for a focused day of learning, connection, and engagement at the State Capitol. Participants will receive advocacy training, hear from guest speakers, and meet directly with state legislators to help educate them on policies that impact historic buildings and communities throughout Wisconsin.

What to Expect

The First Annual Historic Preservation Day at the Capitol offers members a unique opportunity to…

  • Build relationships with state legislators

  • Learn about key preservation policy issues and priorities

  • Receive advocacy training to prepare for Capitol meetings

  • Network with preservation colleagues from across Wisconsin

  • Strengthen the collective voice of historic preservation statewide


Public policy decisions made at the State Capitol have a significant impact on historic preservation efforts in communities across Wisconsin. Your voice matters. Your participation helps ensure those decisions are informed by real-world experience and broad statewide support.


Historic Preservation Day Agenda:

9:30 AM | Registration (Coffee and light breakfast fare)

10:00 AM – 10:40 AM | Legislative Day overview & advocacy training

10:40 AM – 11:00 AM | Guest speaker(s)

11:00 AM –12:00 PM | Legislative priorities / issue briefings

12:00 PM – 12:45 PM | Lunch

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Meetings with legislators at the Capitol
